Daily Make-Up Routine

Good morning lovelies! After many positive votes I received yesterday to do a make-up routine blog, I decided to write it this morning! All pictures in this post are my actual products, and I’ll not only be explaining my routine, but reviewing my products as well. However, I will leave my lipsticks out of the review in this blog because I’ve been getting requests to make a separate ‘review of all my lipsticks’ blog with swatches. Stay tuned for that! Now, without further a due…

The first thing I put on my face, after cleansing my face with the Vichy products I listed in my previous My University Morning Routine blog, is apply my foundation. Right now I’m using L’Oreal True Match LUMI pump foundation in N-1. I normally buy the Classic Ivory shade since apparently I’m really pale haha. But, I bought the wrong shade this time around. Luckily, summer is a couple months away so I can pass it off as a slight tan. Maybe? Hopefully… This foundation has been working for me for a long time and it feels fresh when you apply it to your face. It doesn’t clump or feel heavy at all. After applying that foundation all over my face using my fingers (personal preference, though it works really well for me), I apply my setting powder. For this, I always use L’Oreal True Match Mineral Powder in Classic Ivory. I love this powder because it looks smooth on the face and feels very light.

After the longest part of my make-up routine, comes the fun part when I get to add all the finishing touches. For my blush, I use Maybelline New York in the shade Light Rose. I love this blush so much guys, seriously. It comes with a small brush (I still need to buy a fluffy brush), and the color is gorgeous! This brand has so many different shades of pink to choose from it’s unbelievable. There’s a shade for everyone! I like to use Light Rose because it matches my skin tone really well. After applying that smooth and beautiful blush, I finally have color in my face again, yay! So then it’s time to fill in my eyebrows. My eyebrows are relatively full beforehand, but I do have some small spaces to fill. And after applying foundation and powder, my brows appear lighter and dusty. For my eyebrows, I first use the Lancome Sensation Effects Eye Shadow palate; it’s very old and I’m not sure if they carry it anymore. I use the darkest shade in the palate since my eyebrows are very dark brown.

Hmm…the quality of that picture wasn’t the greatest…sorry guys. So after all that jazz, I move on to my eyes in general. I sometimes finish off my brows first with Annabelle Stay Sharp Self Sharpening Water Proof Brow Liner ( that was a mouth full) in Auburn, because my hair is reddish-brown since I dyed it many months ago. I love, love, love this brow liner, but I don’t use it too often because the color of my hair has faded since I’ve had it dyed, so I don’t want to go overboard with my brow color. Next, I apply Revlon Bonne Belle  eyeliner in Basic Black. I’ve been using this waterline eyeliner for years and never changed it. That can give you a clue of how awesome it is! Plus it twists, no sharpening whatsoever. After that I usually apply Revlon Color Stay liquid eyeliner in Blackest Black to my lid line, not on the underside of my eyelashes. Some people can do that, but I can’t stomach it haha. The last thing I typically apply to my eyes is L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly mascara in Blackest Black. This is another product I’ve been using for a long time, it really gives me full, FULL eyelashes. It’s wonderful guys.

As for my final step, my lipstick or lip gloss, I like to change it up depending on the color scheme of my outfit or what mood I’m in. For example, if I’m wearing a lot of pinkish tones I’ll go for my super bright pink lipstick. If my nails are painted red or I have something red that stands out in my outfit, I’ll wear a light or dark red lipstick. That’s sort of how I decide. I usually go for pink shades when I’m in a girly/happy mood, red shades when I’m my outfit is classy or chic, and lip gloss when I really don’t feel like wearing a strong color. I’ll cover my complete lipstick collection with brand names and lip swatches in a separate blog post, as promised!

And that’s it guys, that’s my entire everyday make-up routine! Sometimes I’ll wear eye shadow too, I have a special palate that is specifically for my eye color. If you guys would like me to do a review for that palate and how I do my smokey eye (with pictures), comment and let me know! And as always, please let me know if there is anything specific you would really like me to blog. By the way, check out my Instagram (amanda.iliadis) if you’re interested in my daily ootds and make-up looks!

Also, I wanted to thank you all for your support with likes, follows, and comments on my blog. I didn’t expect my blog to take off as swiftly as it did, and it’s all thanks to your constant support and encouragement. You guys are the best!

My University Morning Routine

Hello lovelies! So as you know, I’m a university student. And you know what that means…lots and lots of studying. I’m sure some of you are in college or University yourselves, and if you are, you know how it is. No matter what time or day it is, there is always something to do. There’s always a way to be productive. In this post I will be sharing my every day morning routine for university. It’s a routine that’s been working wonders for me. I stay productive all day, have time to chill, and get everything accomplished!

I wake up at 7am every morning. I know 7am is totally crazy right? Well, it’s actually easier than you may think. Every night before bed, I set up 3 to 4 alarms starting at 7am. This way I’m sure to wake up within that time. I also never use snooze, the option is turned off on my phone. Thank goodness it’s off, otherwise I would be tempted to keep sleeping.

Then what do I do, you ask? I take my time getting out of bed. Sometimes up to 20-30 minutes depending how caught up I get on my phone haha. This is when I check my Instagram, Snapchat stories, emails, texts, and whatever else may catch my eye. It’s a fun half hour and definitely wakes me up! After that I’m ready to start my day. I wash my face using Vichy cleanser, followed by their toner and moisturizer (the blue color scheme).

After my skin care routine, I make my bed (a very important step if you want to feel more productive that day). Then I either make some green tea or just have water, grab my laptop, and chill on my bed from about 7:40-8:40 or until 9am- depending on what class I have that morning. This is when I blog, watch my favorite YouTube vloggers (LilyLikecom & aspynovard). They’re seriously amazing, you should check them out haha. I may also listen to my spotify morning playlist (amandailiadis) while I blog. But the early morning is definitely my blogging time (other than tonight because I went to breakfast so early). I write well in the morning for some reason, and I enjoy just chilling in the sunshine while I jam out.

Review | Rimmel London Lipsticks

Whether matte or shiny, I’ve been obsessed with wearing lipstick lately. I never skip this crucial step in my daily make-up routine, it’sprobably my favorite part! I’m just a lipsticky kind of girl! It’s funny because I used to hate lipstick, even a year ago. But I really got into it and now it’s a thing. I own quite a few brands, but Rimmel is one of my favorites for sure. In this blogpost I will review two of my current favorite shades!

Whale watching in Halifax, Nova Scotia last summer (2015) was and still the most amazing event I’ve experienced to this day! The weather was beautiful, and the whales (and dolphins!!) decided to join us for a couple of hours. I recommend going to Brier Island in North West Nova Scotia to experience fantastic whale watching if travelling is your thing. It’s an incredible experience I will never forget. One more thing to scratch off your bucket list!

My top 5 Spring Outfits

So spring has technically sprung! It still feels like winter over here…but hopefully some of you have experienced the beauty of spring already. Here are my top 5 go-to spring outfits to prepare you for spring!

1. Jeans and a plain sweater: the jeans can be ripped, black, denim, whitewash, or whatever you like best! Personally I love light ripped jeans, or very dark/black jeans the best. Pair your jeans with a comfy knitted sweater. I like white, pink, grey, and camel colors the best for this outfit. But rock whatever color suits you! You can also complete your outfit with a fun scarf and cute booties or sneakers.

2. Leggings and flannel/sweater: this is another one of my favorite go-to outfits that looks cute, feels comfy, and can still look fashionable! I usually go for thick, black  leggings, but you can try a variety of patterns and styles. I pair my leggings with a black tank top (plain or styled) and complete with a stylish flannel and sometimes a solid colored scarf! Or, I wear a knitted plain sweater instead of a flannel. Leggings are great to pair with a variety of pieces.
No Flocking3. Cute track pants: this outfit is perfect for lazing about in a fashionable way, going for a walk, or hanging with friends. I have a specific pair of go-to track pants- navy blue with pink and white strings. I suggest choosing track pants that aren’t too baggy for this outfit, because you want a semi-fitting look. I pair my track pants with a short, solid colored cardigan and a plain shirt underneath.

4. Yoga pants and loose shirt: one of the best outfits to wear when you want to be comfy but cute. I have a few pairs of black yoga pants. Some have patterns, but my favorite pair is solid black. You can wear a matching outfit or just throw on a pair with a lose hanging shirt (similar to the leggings outfit).

5. Leggings and a sweater dress/dress: you can pair your black (or any other solid color leggings or tights) with any length sweater dress. I have a sleeveless, royal blue, turtle-neck sweater dress that I love to pair with black leggings. You can then complete the outfit with a short jacket and scarf.

I hope you guys enjoyed these outfit ideas, and have fun trying them out this spring! Remember, you are beautiful no matter what you wear. Follow me on Instagram for my latest ootd’s!

Studying for Finals?

Hey guys! So I’m currently in the dawn of my freshman finals month, and I’m sure many of you are too. Ever wondered how to study for finals effectively and get those A’s? Well you’re in luck! I have some guaranteed tips to make studying for finals fun and thorough.

1. Have a clean and organized desk space: you don’t want to study in a messy, disorganized area. It will make you give up before you’ve even started.

2. Make flashcards: you can do this online on Quizlet, or make them by hand. Either way works, but I suggest this method for testing yourself (especially with artsy subjects like english, history, art, etc.) Tip- using colors is always a good idea, it will stimulate your brain!

3. Eat snacks: always one of my favourites! Eating healthy snacks like fruits, nuts, or even smoothies, will help you feel full, nourished, and rewarded while studying. You’ll end up getting more accomplished in the long run if your stomach is satisfied.

4. Teach a pretend audience: this is something that has really been working for me this term. Make sure you’re standing when you teach, and I recommend teaching your bed pretending there’s an audience. Keep your notebook open but away from you, in case you need a reference. Tip- try taping blank sheets of paper on the wall or wardrobe (especially if you’re in a dorm room) and use a sharpie to write down key information while you teach!

5. Keep a schedule/planner: I always use a planner, but this year I started using a bullet journal which is working really well. Using some kind of device to keep your organized will really help keep you on track during finals. You’ll be sure to study everything and not miss any study time.

6. Relax and breath: make sure you always take breaks, even for 10 minutes. Taking breaks allows your mind to refocus and refreshes you from the feeling of being tired and worn out. You can go on social media, watch a YouTube video, blog, paint your nails, go for a walk, drink some water or tea, or do some yoga! Do something fun, but remember to continue studying. I use the app ‘Pomodoro’ from the iPhone app store. You can set up your study time with scheduled breaks all to your liking! Tip- try one hour of studying with a  five minute break and a half hour break after each second hour. And don’t forget to breathe. You need it!

I hope those tips will help you succeed this finals season. You can do it, believe in yourself and you’ll succeed! Don’t forget to follow me for the latest. xo
